Hoi,

With the recent decision upon recruiting quite heavily into the raidsection it would make it a lot easier for the ones applying if they didn't have to register here on the forums to apply.

The downsides to opening that forum is ofc that we will have spam bots and it can make it a place for "clown haters" to post. But I believe we are quite a few wardens that can keep up with the things posted in there.

As a general rule this would involve deleting all and everything that has not to do with applying to the guild or raidsection or the applicant.

Adding a poll on this one, but ofc all wardens must realize that it is a responsibility in this suggestion. We need to be on top of the situation in there.

Maybe this also can just be for a month or so, until we have the numbers needed in the raid section. Well, we can see how it works out.

Fair enough, Mini. Though I believe they wouldn't mind do a lot more as long as they are playing wow Smile

Thing is that we need to speed the recruiting up a bit. The way it works now is that if you register for the forum you may have to wait for the confirmation e-mail for 24 hours, isn't it so Ade?, and then return to the site and make your application.

It's really all about making it as easy as possible as we really want applicants to the raidsection in order to keep it running.

The confirmation email should arrive within the minute.

Sometimes the email server goes down though, in which case it is never sent. I have added instructions to the register page that say if they don't receive a confirmation they should contact an admin.

If you're really desperate to use someone can you not just raid with them that one day they're waiting for the comfirmation to come through - that sounds about as easy as it's likely to get - you get one raids experience to use while considering their application Smile

Nope, raidteams are chosen days head of the event as most of really like being able to plan a bit ahead Smile

And keep in mind that clown is not the most attractable guild when it comes to raiding. There are many other guilds out there doing Kara as well, so unless one knows a bit about clown there is really no reason for applying "the hard way" to clown when in many guilds one can get a direct invitation ingame after asking to join.

so if a team is chosen days ahead of events then a slight delay while they get their comfirmation isn't going to matter is it? Smile

When you say applying 'the hard way' do you mean having to register on the site? Or is there another bit that makes it hard?

I appreciate that Clown might seem harder to join than others but that's because we're a community spread across a multitude of games. To my knowledge most of the things in place are there because of experience gained over those 10 years and a desire to protect that community.

I'm not particularily against a change being made, but I think the change should be made for good reason and I can't follow you're reasoning. We've already created systems that let people join the guild in game without joining CLOWN the community to allow the RAID side of wow progress. Another change now to make that process even simpler seems confusing - but that's speaking as someone unaware of the specific frustrations that exist within the RAID side Smile

sigh... why do I even bother trying to improve things on this forum...

We are not recruiting people that know about clown and want to join this community, we are trying to recruit people who wants to raid, just like the raiding section in clown. So the ones we are hopefully getting in couldn't care less if they join clown or any other Karazhan guilds. Hopefully they will see the full glory of clown after joining, but as it is now, they don't give a rats ass about clown. Do you get that?

People are amongst other very understanding reasons leaving because we lack people to raid. We made a decission to start recruiting to get prepared to 25 man instances or else many more will leave, Lutze and myself, as an example to that.

Of course I mean registering to a forum as "the hard way" when I also mention that many guilds invite directly ingame. Can you please tell me how you could misunderstand that? Or was it just to make a point? That you really don't think registering is that hard? Bravo!

After being open for ages we have just recently locked up the forums because of bw (yes, I know this is public view) and spambots. I was in my original post in this thread proposing wardens to take care of that situation if it should arise with deleting everything that had nothing to do with the application.

You are speaking about 10 years of experience, but we are in this thread speaking about one month of experience with locked forums. So do you honestly believe that opening up the applications forum again will endanger the community that existed pretty fine for 10 years? If not I can't understand why you bring that up at all, unless you felt like saying something gm'ish that is. If so, bravo again!

You cant follow my reasoning. Go out for yourself and try to get a new clown in here and maybe you will. In this very thread Ade writes: "Sometimes the email server goes down though, in which case it is never sent. I have added instructions to the register page that say if they don't receive a confirmation they should contact an admin."

If that thing would have worked yesterday we would have had two applicants here today, well that I personally spoke with and as joozt and drak also are actively recruiting there might be many more, as it is now we have none.

Will make things more confusing? For whom? Can't be for the new ones we are trying hard to get to join us so it must be for us already here. How can you explain that making it easier to apply to clown make it more confusing to anybody?
Or are you actually saying that opening up the aplication forums make it more confusing for you? I am sure somebody around you can explain it to you if all of a sudden we are starting to get more aplications.

Like you say; you are apparently unaware of the situation so I suggest you read a bit up on it bacause as a person "not particularily against a change being made", you surely speak like one.

I usually wouldn't mind your comment so much, but you are one of the gm's.

Mate I ask cause I don't understand... it's as simple as that.
I'm not trying to score points or elicit a 'bravo' from you
Yes I am one of the GM's and I spoke to another one of the GM's and neither of us had any idea of the sudden need to speed up the application process again so that people who don't give a rats ass about clown (as you phrase it) are able to join it. Other people are concerned about the necessity for another change to the way things are working so I'm asking a few questions.

The forums have been open and closed at different points over the years so we're not talking about 1 month's experience.

The confusion can exist for those who aren't privy to all the discussions that go on within the RAID section of this forum. Don't forget not everyone gets to read all the discussions that take place. All they see is a request for a change that affects the community because of the raiders in wow, not much more than a month after another change which didn't sit easy with some but they accepted.

I was trying to ask a few simple questions, a reflection of the comments I've received after people saw your poll being put up because I am one of the GM's

K, first things said in this thread;

"Hoi,

Please answer those that dont understand it just that. And hopefully that other gm you asked about this was the Raid gm as this change is because of the raid section.

To clearefy a little here.

After what I have heard it takes 24 hours from you register on the clown site before you can post on the forum, and the Wood want here is to shorten this time so those that register could either apply for causal Clown or raid team right after they have register. So we can keep our promise that 4 days for an answare for joing causal clown and 2 days for raid team.

Hope this clearfy for you thats wondering. Smile

Agree jjane. Don't really understand the fuzz some are making this to be.

All that that have showed concerns to Light for opening the forums please speak up here on the forums as it only causes more confusion if you whisper Light about them and expect him to know the raid teams story and decissions.

Like it is stated in the very first lines in this thread, this is because of the raid teams need to grow, why on earth you then bother the casual gm about it instead of the raid gm is beyond me.

I really don't understand why all you folks who don't understand this don't post anything here about it instead of whispering around in circles on pm's. I once heard a story about a feather that turned into a hen..

My vote goes with Mini... People should take the time to register if they want to join your group. If they already start saying "yeah but it's boring to wait" what does it prove about the type of player. I think every guild I ever applied on this server or another requested you to register. On the other hand, it didn't take me 24 hours to get an account confirmation, so we might have a problem. Question is: can we speed up the registering on forums? If not it can be blocking indeed...

Anyway I'm not in Raid team, and I guess raid forums should be owned by raid people. So my advice shouldn't be taken into account if you don't want to Wink

It doesn't take 24 hours when it works like Ade said some posts earlier.

Please read the complete thread line.

Tha raidteam falls appart if we don't get enough members, but sure, some clowns would prefer that. Not at all speaking about you or mini, corny.

Wonder if all the work to get Clown to be a raid and casual guild really is wurt it?

Can't understand this BS...

It's so many different way to see how "thing" works that all aprovments, wich is needed to make the raid grp "attuned" to be a 25 man raidgrp, needed to happen does't because of all missunderstanding (or is it really missunderstandings ?!)

It's a close vote, but I propose opening the forums for a trial period and see how it goes. This is how it worked in the past anyway, so it's not as if this is a really controversial new thing to do.

Circus Wardens can keep on top deleting spam posts and *any* post that isn't to do with applying to CLOWN.

I will wait til tomorrow AM for any objections before implementing this.
