Gigabyte 945P-DS3 Core2Duo
MSC 2Gb DDR2 PC5400/667 * 2
Samsung HDD 250Gb 7200rpm 8Mb SATA
MSC iDream 20-in-1 Reader Int Bk
LG - Goldstar DVD 16/52x IDE Black Bulk

Asus GF 8500GT 512Mb PCI-e No Fan

Is that the components needed for the new uber speeder in SWG? Why would it need a GFX card? odd...still, rumors have it this one is really fast - so who cares!

I dunno how much components cost in Belgium compared to the UK but I noticed your board supports Quad core, and Intel recently slashed the prices of their Q6600 by about £100. I got one for £175 compared to paying around £135 for the E6600 you're going for. If u can afford the extra bit it'd be worth getting the Quad.

The only other thing i'd mention is purely for upgradings sake you'd be better off getting a beefier PSU, 400W is not a lot these days and if u decide to invest in more drives or a better GFX card you'll most likely need to replace that PSU at some point in the future which will be more expense later. I guess it all depends on how much cash you've got to spend now compared to how much you might save later.

in my ears it sounds like a good deal

Is he building it? If so ask him to make the change as Seq said (a better PSU and grafic card), should't raise the price mutch.

What the others said, better PSU (~700W?) wouldnt hurt, a better graphics card might also be a good idea if you wanna play some of the coming big games well (Crysis and what have you), but if you arent in a hurry it might be a good idea to wait with that until Nvidia release thier 8900 lineup later this year, as that is sure to bring about a price cut on the 8800 cards (which is probebly what you'd want if you are aiming for those games). If you have a better PSU you can always upgrade the graphics seperatly later when you feel the need.

However if you don't have that high standards as far as graphics and recent games go I'd say fire away, it's a good computer by any standards.

Well if you're getting an 8800, I went for the EVGA 8800GTS KO ACS3 edition, it's a seriously nice card and quite a bit quicker than the standard 8800GTS due to a huge factory overclock.

Word of warning though, you will definately need a bigger PSU for an 8800 and the card I have is MASSIVE! I can't stress how bulky the cooler is on it, I had to rearrange the hard drives at the front of my case just so I could fit the bugger in. Don't get the same card unless you've got plenty of space in the case for it.

Ok, got the information and not sure I'm going to go for the upgrades Smile

Price GFX:
- Asus GF 8500GT 512Mb PCI-e No Fan: 103 Euros
- EVGA 8800GTS KO ACS3: 400+ Euros
=> 300 Euros more expensive. Couldn't find any comparative but it's a major difference ^o^. To pay such a difference I would have to be sure that the results are kind of 2 or 3 times faster. Don't think it would be the case. And considering the 8900 is alo on its way, I might want to cool down the budget to buy the new model in the future.

Price PSU:
400W: 50 Euros
700W: 140 Euros
=> Not a major difference compared to the full PC price. I'll probably go for it in case I would buy a new GFX in the near future

Thank you a lot for the info provided till now!

lol Lev, yes it's true, I love hardware, i find it doesn't feck up as much as software which is a big plus and it helps me run games at a million fps Very Happy

Corny, it's prob a wise choice hanging on til the other cards come out. Tbh I thought the 8800's were too expensive too and I still do. Only reason I got mine was cos some noob priced it up wrong on a website and I knew the moment I spotted it. Couldn't resist it then Very Happy
